Bruce Walter Willis was born in Los Angeles, California on the 19th of March 1955. He is one of the three children of David Willis and Marlene Willis.

His father, David Willis was an American soldier while his mother, Marlene was a German woman from Kassel who migrated from Europe to the States before the Second World War.

Two years after he was born, his father was dismissed from military duties and the family moved to his hometown of Carneys Point, New Jersey. After they migrated from California to New Jersey, the family settled down and took up blue-collar jobs.

His mother was employed as a cashier in the bank, while his father became a welder, master mechanic, and took a part-time job in the factory.

Bruce and his siblings, Robert and David were enrolled in Penns Grove High School. He was a very shy person and usually stutters when he talks. His colleagues at school criticized him for this and gave him the nickname “Buck-Buck”.
