Chadwick Aaron Boseman was born on the 29th of November 1977 in Anderson, South Carolina. Both his parents were African American. His mother, Carolyn was a nurse while his father Leroy Boseman had an upholstery business and was a worker at a textile factory downtown.

According to Boseman, his DNA testing results indicated his ancestors were from the Krio people from Sierra Leone, the Yoruba cultural group in Nigeria, and Limba people in Sierra Leone.

Boseman was a very brilliant student. When he was in the 6th grade, he wrote and played his first movie, Crossroads. He did this movie to honor one of his classmates that was shot dead at that time.

In 1995, Boseman graduated from T. L. Hanna High School in 1995, he was one of the best basketball players in the school. Then he furthered his education at Howard University in Washington. By February 2000, Boseman had a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts in directing.

Since he was so interested in acting, he decided to further his education at the Oxford Mid-Summer Program of the British American Drama Academy, England. With the help of his teacher and mentor, Phylicia Rashad, he was able to raise enough money to sponsor his education at this institution.
