How To Transfer Data On Airtel
You can use two different methods to transfer data to another Airtel user. You either use “Airtel data me2u” or “Airtel data gifting.” These two options are different from each other. One requires you to have a data bundle on your sim, while the other does not require having data.
I’ll be providing a step-by-step guide on how to use either method.
1. Airtel Data Me2U
This data-sharing option allows you to transfer data from your Airtel sim card to another Airtel user. This feature is also called data sharing or data transfer. However, it would help if you had an active data bundle before using this option.
Also, the data you’ll be sharing has the same validity as the one on your SIM card. For instance, if you have 4GB of active data bundle on your Airtel sim card, you can use data me2u to transfer 300MB or more to another Airtel user while the data is still active.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use Airtel data me2u
- Open the dialer app on your phone
- Dial the USSD code *321#
- Type “*” for the next option
- After clicking “*,” you’ll see “13- gifting and sharing.”
- Type in “13” into the box and click send
- Click on “4 – data me2u.”
- Click on “2 – send me2u from the existing allowance.”
- It will ask you to enter the recipient’s number. (please note that you can only transfer to an Airtel number)
- After inputting the data allowance, click send.
- You’ll be asked to fill in how much data you want to transfer. Fill it in and click send.
- Enter your transfer pin. (The default transfer pin is 1234. However, I’d recommend that you change the default pin to a personalized one before proceeding)
- Confirm the transfer by clicking send. That’s it; you’ve successfully transferred to an Airtel number.
2. Airtel Data Gifting
Airtel data gifting is another way of transferring data to friends and family who use Airtel sim. With this feature, you can buy data directly for another user’s Airtel sim by paying through your airtime balance. In other words, you can buy Airtel 4GB of data for someone by paying through your airtime balance.
Here’s how to use Airtel data gifting to transfer data
- Open the dialer app on your phone
- Dial the USSD code *321#
- Type “*” for the next option
- After clicking “*,” you’ll see “13- gifting and sharing.”
- Type in “13” into the box and click send
- Click on “2 – data gifting.”
- After clicking on “2,”. It will ask whether you want to buy monthly, weekly, daily, or mega data bundles.
- Click on the one you want to buy and select the plan you want.
- After selecting the plan you want, click on 1 to activate it.
- After activating, you’ll be asked to input the recipient’s phone number.
- After filling in the number, click send and enter your transfer pin. (please note that the default pin is 1234, and you have to change it to a personalized one before you can use it.)
- After filling in the pin, click send. The data plan will automatically be sent to the number as long as you have enough airtime in your balance.
3. Airtel Ask A Friend
This method is not similar to other methods on this list. This is not a way to transfer data, but you can use this method to request from a friend. You could be stranded and not have airtime; this method can prove effective.
Here’s how to use Airtel ask a friend
