Phyno Biography
Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike was born on the 9th of October 1986 in Enugu, Enugu State. Although he is a native of Anambra State, he spent most of his time in Enugu State.
He grew up with the dream of becoming a pilot before his attention was diverted to music.
Phyno began playing musical instruments during his Secondary School days. From there he began producing his composition of every recording he heard. He later went on to attend IMT (Institute of Management and Technology) in Enugu where he studied public administration.
During his undergraduate phase, he started earning a living from music, as he was always performing at his school faculty and departmental nights. Then he came up with the stage name Phyno.

For those who have been curious about how he came up with the stage name Phyno. The rap star came to adopt the name Phyno as his stage name from one of his friends back in his high school days which means “Phenomenal” because of his uniqueness.
On the 25th of October 2012, Phyno released his debut song and the first single from his debut studio album “Ghost Mode” featuring Olamide. It was one of the hottest songs then. The song was a rap track in Nigerian pidgin, Yoruba, and the Igbo language.
Phyno later released his second hit single “Man of the Year” which won him the Headies award for the best rap single. The music was later banned by the NBC (Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation) prohibiting it from being broadcast.
Following the ban of his second song, Phyno’s dropped the third track from his album titled “Parcel”. He also featured P-Square in one of his tracks “O Set” which was another massive hit. It wasn’t long before Phyno dropped another banger tagged “Alobam”.

Following the release of the mega-hit, the album was the introduction of the “Phynofest”, a festival that attracted a massive twelve thousand audience in attendance at the Onitsha stadium in Anambra state.
The following year, the festival took a different turn, this time it received over thirty thousand audiences. All the star artists like Lil Kesh, Patoranking, and Olamide were guest performers at the festival.
