At the age of 16, Tiwa was a backup vocalist in a song written by George Michael and Mary Blige. This made her kind of a veteran in music even before she started doing it professionally.

After completing her secondary education in the UK, she got admitted into the University of Kent, where she studied accountancy and graduated in flying colors. After completing tertiary education, she went ahead to practice what she had learned by landing a job at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
