Income Potential: Uber drivers make an average of ₦20,000 to ₦40,000 weekly. If you put in the/ right piece in the puzzle you can earn as much as ₦ 50,000 weekly.

  1. Go For Gigs:

When it comes to gigs and concerts, music is the first event that pops up. Currently, music and songwriting national cake in the entertainment industry and a lot of students and youth benefit from it every day.

Writing a good song brings fame. And this fame brings about concerts and fortune. When it comes to music and entertainment today, the campus is usually the best place to start because they are usually intercampus events, festivals, bonfires, and even TDB (till daybreak) concerts.

This makes campus ground your shopping mall and brings a wide network connection(s) to you. Besides a lot to artistes troop into campus daily. One studio session can change your life. This is another lucrative way to make money in the university.

Income Potential:

Upcoming artistes charge up to ₦500,000 per show you are no different. And dancers, as I said earlier, can charge over ₦50,000 per show.

  1. Partake In School Politics:

Ok forget the campus grounds for a moment, we all know that there’s a lot of money rooted in every political seat, SUG, faculty president, departmental president, course representatives, PRO, treasurers, etc.
Income Potential: How much does your SUG president earn per semester? What of the faculty president? Class dues for course rep? Do state it in the comment section. So, you can get up to ₦300,000 per semester.

Are you still searching “how can how to make money as a student?” then the school election is your best bet. If you want to make a lot of money on campus, then politics all the way. But make an effort to be an awesome leader.

  1. Invest:

You don’t have to be a graduate before you can begin to invest. Most successful people(62%) were investing before they set their feet on campus. Invest the little you have to get more with little or no work required.

This is one of the best ways to make money as a student in Nigeria. The best ways to invest your money as a student includes:

  • Opening a Brokerage Account for Stock Investments and Day Trading.
  • Try Long-term/Low-cost/low-involvement Index Funds & Mutual Funds.
  • Bond Investments.
  • Open a Money Market Account.
  • Start Your Roth IRA (Individual Retirement Account).
  • Forex.
  • Buying stock/shares.

If you don’t have in-depth knowledge about any of the methods on the list I wrote above. You shouldn’t invest to avoid a loss but I would advise you to invest in school-related matters like the bonfire night, student week, faculty nights, sport, social activities and the likes. Then negotiate your commission or percentage which will be given to you as soon as the event is dissolved.

Income Potential: The income varies, but can be up to ₦3,000,000 per annum if done properly.

For most male students, you’ll be their hero. Hair is an essence and portrait beauty. So, offering great haircut services is also an awesome way to earn while studying.

Most students on campus go through a lot to look good. Giving quality barbing, shave and haircut services can fetch a couple of bucks in school.

Income Potential: ₦300 to ₦1, 000 per service and as much as ₦10,000 weekly.

  1. Stylist/Hairdressing/Make-Up:

Hairdressing is an awesome job that a student can do to make money in Nigeria. If you have makeup skills, this will make a good Saturday morning job.

An average Nigerian girl spends over ₦ 4000 monthly on hair making and hair related products. Same deal as the make-up. If you have mad hair skills, you only have to put in a couple of hours on a Saturday and then sleep on cash.

Income Potential: ₦1, 500 per service and as much as ₦ 30,000 weekly.

  1. Tailoring:

No matter how modernized we try to look, a lot of students still prefer the good old native Ankara designs. Because it’s catchy, culture and elegant designs.
If you have mad and crazy skills in embroidery and garment making you should be able to set yourself for life, while you are still on campus.

Amazingly, tailors charged over ₦ 6000 to make a ladies gown and they still purchase this item. So, tailoring is by far the best business idea for university students.

Interior designs, parent, in-house, marriage, agriculture, insurance anything you are skilled with can be put to use here.

Giving insights/advice for a price, of course, is a way to get started. You could also make yourself available on platforms like LinkedIn, Pinterest and even Facebook as well.

Selling your time and receiving on a Skype call or Google hangout is a great hustle, make your presence know and start earning.

Selling noodles, Milo, Cowbell, sugar, peanuts, snacks, etc is your dorm room is not such a bad idea right?

No matter how big or small, it’s not free. When you’re ready to start welcoming tenant(s), you can publish your listing/vacancy for students to see.

The bottom line is, if you have a space for rent, you should probably advertise it and potentially make some extra cash each month/year depending on the agreement. Besides getting a roommate is not such a bad idea.

Income Potential: Income varies. If you paid ₦100,000, then place the rent to be 50k to 60k.

  1. Sell Your Textbooks:

I’ve sold a lot of my old books to new students at a doubled price because they were neat and well kept. But when I sell half the price, it means that I need the cash urgently. In essence, selling books is not such a bad idea.

Income Potential: Income varies.

You can sell it to a friend, roommate, neighbor or even your relatives. There are also sites to ease you of these burdens. You can sell anything on,, etc.

Instead of leaving it downstairs to get a flat tire, dead battery or even engine failure. Depending on how often you rent your car, you could earn a nice amount of money. Besides, you are on campus and a lot of people like flashy gears.

Note: Only let out your car to a trusted party with drivers license etc

Income Potential: You can rent your car out for as low as ₦50,000 and as much as #150,000. Depending on the car model and condition.

You simply sit around and make sure no dangerous event happens in your water. Then you get paid. You can become a lifeguard for the school pool or a nearby hotel and resorts, tourist center and your local community.

Income potential: Up to ₦20,000 monthly.

A part-time job is the obvious first choice thought opted for by most students. It provides a pretty steady flow of income and can enable you to gain valuable work experience and connection.

A part-time is not such a bad idea, instead of using your spare time laying around and crying how hungry you are, you get a few bucks for yourself by going on simple errands.

A lot of people out there date looking for assistants, sales agent, secretary, etc. you can use your spare time to make more money while studying.

Income potential: As a secretary, you can earn up to ₦40,000 monthly and almost double as a sales agent.

  1. Become a Data Reseller:

The job of a data reseller is to buy data from the telecommunication and sell it to his customers at a reduced price. More of a wholesaler and retailer business. Data resellers buy data in bulk and sell in bits.

There is a lot to gain from this business on campus it can easily be monopolized and privatized. Meeting student data needs and also your data needs while earning money and studying is a nice way to make money as a student in Nigeria.

  1. Offer pet care service:

Over the years, pets have evolved from being just animals to strange and wonderful distraction and integral part of families all over the world.

In Nigeria, the dog population has been variously estimated at between 3 and 5 million, but these estimates are not based on established parameters. You just have to discover if you are a dog or a cat person.

Pet services are a big business across the country, For your information, most dogs pups are just as expensive if not the same price as an adult cow. Besides people make a six-figure income from it.

Pet sitters typically spend 30 minutes with you and can give the required medication(s). Lots of people have pets at home during the day while they work, to ward off loneliness or as a companion.

  1. For decades, people believe that the subject of making more is strictly for working-class individuals. Even teachers in a school are irritated when students decided to do any other things aside from their academic work. Students haven’t been taught to be productive and making money or becoming millionaires while in school is out of the subject. This shouldn’t be so. I believe students can create wealth while in school. Very nice post sir. thank you so much.
